Winston Wächter Fine Art Seattle is excited to announce our sixth solo exhibition with Japanese painter Hiro Yokose. The oil paintings in Tributary present variations on an indeterminate landscape, stretching into hazy horizons, marshland and softly rendered tree groves. The current body of work subtly incorporates patches of blue into otherwise muted earth tones, suggesting a poignant transfiguration in the sky. Illuminated water directs attention into the infinitely expanding, oceanic background, leaving a trace of mystery within the peripheral landscapes teeming with hidden life.
Hiro Yokose was born in Nagasaki, Japan in 1951 and moved to Manhattan as a young man, where he lived and worked for the majority of his career, until returning to Japan. His works can be found in numerous collections including Microsoft, Boeing, Citibank, and San José Museum of Art.
