Maja Petric creates immersive light installations and sculptures that evoke the sublimity of nature. This allows her to engage people with their innate connection to the environment and fellow humans, to the degree that one can recognize unity with something greater than oneself in this vast and interconnected universe. Petric is known for creating interactive artworks that combine light, sound, and cutting-edge technologies (such as artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics), which foster a multi-sensory experience of art. Her approach is innovation-driven, scientific, and technical. Fusing these disciplines with art lets her impact people’s experiences in a way that would not be possible otherwise.
Maja Petric has been exhibited at Microsoft Research Gallery, Henry Art Gallery, Hong Kong Landmark, MadArt Studio, Gallery 4Culture, Matadero Madrid, Medialab Prado, Winter Lights in London, in addition to others. Awards include the Microsoft Research Residency Award, Richard Kelly Light Art Award, two Thunen Lighting Awards, and Doctoral Fellowship from Croatian Science Foundation. Her artwork has been nominated forArts Innovator Award, FastCo. Innovation by Design Awards, International Light Art sAward by the Centre for International Light Art Unna. She is currently Artist in Residence of Redmond, WA, USA.
